3.2.2 Making an Application
The method for applying for PBR is set out in the Act and is administered by the PBR Office within IP Australia in Canberra, which receives around 400 applications per year.
The priority date for lodgment of an application is calculated from the date of lodgment with IP Australia.
Applicants need to be aware of the existence of any other Australian legislation, which could impact on their intended use of the registered variety.
